I would have a suggestion for a new feature: Is it possible to make a built-in http-server, so that remote users in my network can access to the db?
and i would recommend to rename the tool to "okawiki", "wix" means in german something like 'to jerk off'^^
Répondre - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('7155','skjern','I would have a suggestion for a new feature: Is it possible to make a built-in http-server, so that remote users in my network can access to the db?\r\nand i would recommend to rename the tool to \"okawiki\", \"wix\" means in german something like \'to jerk off\'^^'); return false;">Citer

@Brian Russell >
I'm not sure exactly what you are asking - whether you mean the Okawix program files themselves, or the downloaded data file (the 5gig+ file).

If you mean the downloaded data file, maybe this is useful. (This is about the initial installation of the data file into the Okawix program.)

The downloaded data file can be anywhere - start Okawix, try left-clicking and find where it says "add new corpus from local file". Click that, navigate to where the data file is, and then it will unzip the files into your Okawix installation directory (without changing the original downloaded data file). I think that is what I did to get things working - I hope I'm remembering correctly.
Warning! Be patient - it takes a _long_ time to decompress and create the actual files that Okawix uses - if I remember it took 5 or 10 minutes.
Hope this helps...

@perry > There's a bug in the search component that prevent you from setting the number of search results to something higher than 25, you can set it up to something lower though.
@perry >

Sorry, it was not an .INI file.

It was the
\Okawix\defaults\preferences\okawix-prefs.js

and I tried to change the 25 in the following to 50, but it did not work:

pref("results.limit",25);

How can I change the number of search results?

Thank you,

Bonjour,

Sorry I cannot speak French.

I am so happy that I now have Okawix and the Wikipedia on my local hard drive!

Can someone help me?

I'm wondering if I am using the search engine incorrectly. It seems to be limited to 25 results, which often does not find the article I am searching for.

I tried editing one of the Okawix .INI files that appears  to limit the search results to 25 results, but it did not work.

I checked the Okawix entries in the Registry, but I did not see anything there.

For example, today I was going crazy trying to find the "Club of Rome" entry, but I could not. Quotes on search terms seem to have no effect. Boolean searches seem not to work. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Best regards,

@Tim >
Hi Tim,

What you say may be true, as I have not tried to download directly from the Wikipedia site.
Another possibility could be the file system of the hard drive you are downloading to. Is it NTSF or FAT32?
Are you using Windows XP or and earlier version of Windows? I think that only Windows XP using NTFS can write files larger that two gigabytes (but I could be wrong about that). Anyway, now you have something maybe you check on...

Regards,

@Mike.lifeguard > as said in the article, we're not sure why people started to think Okawix was not free ; we think it just started with some misunderstanding: people knowing only about okawix.com website and not about the sourceforge project, some other may have thought we modified GPL stuff without redistributing changes, etc. then those people posted comments about Okawix not being free on blogs, mailing lists, etc. leading others to think the same.
